I played 70 games this year (including ones I didn't finish). These are the ten ones I liked the most. This list includes games I played for the first time this year even if they were released ages ago.

It's been an awful year for the world but a great year for video games.
Kentucky Route Zero - Act III - Too Late to Love You (in-game version)
Переглядів 268 тис.10 років тому
The ephemeral musical centre-piece of the third act of Kentucky Route Zero, a game that's doing things I always wished games would do. Junebug and Jonny perform to what could technically be called a crowd, putting a post-robotic spin on a song they heard in this very same tavern a long time ago. Find out more about Kentucky Route Zero here: kentuckyroutezero.com/ Follow Cardboard Company on twi...
No fucking way. Literally the last two movies I have seen in the past month and they come together lol
I'm pretty sure this is a cover/take on Dolly Parton's It's Too Late
this is funny as shit lmfao
letterbox user type of humour, love it
Anatomy of a Past Life
lol
This song has heavy Twin Peaks vibes
I sure do love beach house!!!! In all seriousness I finished this game a couple of days ago and I have been consumed by it completely. Once in a lifetime experience. P.S It also gives off chromatics vibes but I'd say beach house is more like it.
I loved this i wanted to tell them i loved their music so bad they made 4 fans that night 😂
Fuckin spine chilling man
I had the same thought but I associated it with the zodiac cause cass is definitely a Cancer crab 🦀
well, i'm convinced
It wasn't until I replayed this game that I realized that Junebug heard this song originally from Lysette singing it in a bar, mourning the loss of her love for Conway. That context made this absolutely devastating, especially with the heart-wrenching emotion that Junebug puts into it. I've hardly ever cried at a scene in a game as much as I did here thinking of that
This song came up in my discover weekly on Spotify and I’ve been enjoying it for almost two years. Only now to realize it’s from a game and that the singer doesn’t have any other work for me to listen to (maybe someone can point out if I’m wrong) absolutely haunting song
This game was magical, when this part kicked in I was high as a kite. I cried constantly as it was so beautiful and haunting.
What’s interesting about this to me is that this is the first time you hear a voice in a long time, there’s so much reading and depth to this game, but when it gives us these short moments of human sound through this or the folk hymns, they just hit so much harder because of the silence that bookends them.
It's sad because it's too late.
I'm excited to play this scene again in the PC/TV version when I get it soon, nearly 10 years after I first started playing 🥹 this left such an impact
You only get to experience this moment in the game for the first time once, and that experience is something you will hopefully carry with you for the rest of your life
This is not a song you listen to in a car during daylight hours. This is a song you listen to in the wee hours of the morning, completely alone, thinking about it all. I would love to drive out into the boonies sometime, find an empty field, and look at the stars while this plays.
This song is capable of making my cry in the train
Looks like Cool Dude Todd in background!
Ive listened to this so many times its so good. I want to steal this chord progression and turn it into a pink-floyd-ish style song so bad
I'm playing through KRZ for the first time right now, and I just played through this scene last night. I've been thinking about it all day, to the point where I had to see it again, thus why I'm here now. I can't wait to see what else this game has in store for me up to the end.
I played this episode about an hour before the first episode of twin peaks season 3 launched .. the vibe of that evening was of the charts... It was cosmic
josh why are you so incredibly british
Kentucky Route Zero really is the epitome of a game that you can’t internalize by reading reading a review or watching a playthrough - You just gotta play it; Otherwise, you’re missing out by out on a unique experience, a surreal tragedy that presents the illusion of player choice, only to descend into something bigger than we are in control of.
This was one of them moments in my video game history that wont be forgotten.
This vocal performance is killer
I dont know the game, but reading the comments really makes me wanna play it! I came here in hopes to find out who the singer is, it's a very captivating voice. This song truly touches me.
Ben Babbit I think is his name. The voice is processed to sound feminine.
I cried at this point. Why?
Now this is a different moment of course there are some amazing musical setpieces like wolven storm in the witcher. But holy hell this was something else where in witcher it spoke to your character here it speaks to you. This is ladies and gentlemen is the peak of musical setpieces.
This was the best part so far (I just finished act IV), had my headphones on full blast in a dark room, it was perfect.
Wow this is way older than I thought but still the best gaming experience I had. I find myself coming back to this scene all the time since I played this game. This, paired with the mines scene is one of the best experiences I’ve had in a game ever.
I saw Junebug before I saw this.
I chose the same verses you chose . I love this game so much... :')
...and then the roof just floated right off!
I JUST WANNA KNOW WHAT EFFECTS ARE ON THE VOCALS
this is trans
She sounds a lot like the lead singer from celebration, I like.
This scene was magical for me. I was simply mesmerized. This game has an energy that is hard to describe
I can't share how this scene made me feel with anybody except for with people in UA-cam comments and other pockets of the internet... If you know you know.... You know....
The first time I saw this I had an out of body experience
I absolutly agree
Recently played this thanks to gamepass. My favorite scene for sure :> I shouted "HOLY SHIT I get to pick the lyrics!" Had headphones in so my roommate was so confused lmao
This was one of the more beautiful sequences in a game I've experienced. Disco Elysium is a heavy contender, though, especially when he meets the phasmid. If you haven't played yet, do yourself a favour and play before watching this video: ua-cam.com/video/4v9pwl0auyw/v-deo.html
Reminds me of Bjork.
This summer I feel I love with a person and I really thought it was the love of my life. It brought the happiest, strongest, purest version of me. Then, from a moment to another, just stopped caring and speaking to me. My heart has been broke for a few months now, "but it's to late to love you now" I guess... this scene really made me cry remembering the first time we saw each other and just fell in love, briefly, but intensely...
Seeing this scene in my bed on my Switch was just magical.
Fucking brilliant game
Whoever asks for my hand in marriage must consider this song to be the best piece of music to ever exist, period, not a joke.
Wait you can change how she sings the lyrics to the song
yeah pretty cool right
